Cryptic Vector acquires cyber research specialist

Cryptic Vector, a cybersecurity and electronic warfare outfit backed by Enlightenment Capital, has acquired another company focused on the offensive aspects of cyber for national security agencies.

President Kevin Hoffer founded Caesar Creek Software in 2018 to provide research-and-development work into computer operating systems and hardware devices such as personal computers, mobile phones, Internet of Things devices, and communications and networking equipment.

With this acquisition, Cryptic Vector now touts a workforce of around 250 cyber engineers and other personnel that work with Defense Department and intelligence agencies. Financial terms of the transaction announced Monday were not disclosed.

“Joining forces with Caesar Creek supercharges our offensive cyber portfolio with elite talent and proven expertise in exploit development and reverse engineering,” Cryptic Vector chief executive Sean Olding said in a release.

Enlightenment entered its Cryptic Vector investment in August 2024, so this represents the contractor’s first acquisition with that backing.
